Approximately 60,000 Refugees live in Utah. The vast majority reside in Salt Lake County and represent countries such as Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Iraq, Vietnam, the former Soviet Union and Burma. Our featured speakers are Michael Pekarske and WDC member Maryam Radpour. Mr. Pekarske is the Assistant Director of the Refugee Services Office at Utah‘s Workforce Services will speak about integrating and empowering refugees’ access to family-sustaining employment necessary to succeed in Utah for generations to come. Ms. Maryam Radpour is an Iranian woman passionate in her advocacy work for women and children.
