Joining us:
Jeff Merchant is a born-and-raised Utahn and a life-long progressive. He practiced environmental and natural resource law for six years, both in private practice and in public service for the federal government. In June 2019, Jeff was elected Chair of the Utah Democratic Party. In 2023, he became the Executive Director of the Alliance for a Better Utah and the Better Utah Institute with a desire to change Utah politics, fight for accountability and advocate for sound public policy.
TJ Ellerbeck's interest in politics began while he was attending Cottonwood High School, where he became Vice President of the local Young Democrats chapter and landed an internship with Pete Ashdown's campaign for United States Senate in 2006. TJ also served on the executive Boards of the Young Democrats of Utah (YDU) and College Democrats of Utah for nine years, including serving as President of YDU from 2013 – 2015. He is currently the Executive Director of The Rural Utah Project.
