"Rent for a typical 2-bedroom apartment in SL County increased by $100 last year to $1,294.month. To afford such rent, an income of $51,000 would be required. For 5 years, vacancy rates have been below 5%, leaving renters with few options if they cannot afford rent hikes. In the last 5 years, rents have jumped by 41% in Ogden, 31% in Layton, 28% in Salt Lake City and 24% in Orem according to Utah Rent Report."
