Our Speakers

Senator Kathleen Riebe

Senator Kathleen Riebe

Senator Kathleen Riebe is a dedicated public servant, educator, and advocate who represents Utah’s Senate District 15. A longtime teacher and community leader, she brings a deep commitment to public education, working families, and practical solutions that strengthen Utah communities. Known for her thoughtful approach and willingness to engage across perspectives, she has become a respected voice on education policy and legislative issues at the Capitol.

Earlier this year, Senator Riebe joined the Women’s Democratic Club of Utah to provide a thoughtful legislative preview, helping our members understand what to expect in the upcoming session. We are thrilled to welcome her back to share her legislative insights and a comprehensive wrap-up following the close of the session.

Timothy Chambless

Timothy has been teaching at the University of Utah since 1987, offering courses in Political Science, Communication, History, and through the English Language Institute. He has worked for a mayor, a governor, a senator, and a congressional representative, and served over 20 years on Salt Lake City's Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.

With participation in more than 30 political campaigns, Tim brings real-world experience to the study of American government, emphasizing current events and contemporary issues. Since 2007, he has also taught through Osher Lifelong Learning, where he currently leads “Current Issues in American Public Affairs and Politics,” helping students explore public affairs and politics as both a practice in democracy and a tool for addressing societal challenges.
