The Oxford definition of Democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. In Utah those elected representatives form a supermajority who rule legislature, and us, with seemingly less practice or principles of social equality. Our guests July 9, 2022 will offer their perspective on the state of democracy in Utah, and the country. Robert Gehrke SL Tribune News Columnist has spent more than 20 years primarily covering government and politics in Utah and the West, including seven years in Washington, D.C. Representative Angela Romero has served in the Utah State Legislature for 10 years now. During this time she has worked on issues that impact marginalized communities. Now just shy of two decades of public service, Angela splits her time between her work of supporting communities throughout Salt Lake City and her legislative duties that impact the whole of the state of Utah. Lunch tentatively provided by the Red Iguana (to be confirmed)... Or join via Zoom if you prefer.
