HB200 Sexual Assault Kit Processing Amendments

Status: Placed on Senate 2nd Reading Calendar on 2/28/2017

Action: Send supportive, personalized e-mail or letter to your state senator, saying why this bill is important to you.

 

HB 11  State Boards and Commissions Amendments

Removes bipartisan requirements for state boards and commissions.

Status:  Has passed both house and senate.

Action:  Please contact Gov Herbert and encourage him to veto

 

HB 278 “Expenses Of Minor Children Amendments”

Rep Chavez Houck

Description:  Allows split medical billing upon divorce decree presented to health provider ensuring each divorced parent responsible for medical expenses.

Status:  Passed house, sent to senate judiciary, law enforcement & criminal justice committee.

Action:  Contact said committee and urge them to send to floor for a vote, VOTE YES

 

HB259 “Duty to Retreat Amendments”

Rep Maloy

Description:  Does not require an individual to retreat if their safety could be secured by retreating.  Otherwise known as Stand Your Group (of Florida George Zimmerman fame).

Status:  Passed house, sent to senate judiciary, law enforcement & criminal justice committee

Action:  Contact said committee and urge them to vote against this bill.

Why:  Current law allows individual to defend themselves rather than flee.  In states where this law has been instituted, homicides have increased 15-20%.  Significant concerns proposed law gives permission to shoot minorities.

 

HB 369 “Sexual Offenses and Statutory NonConsent Amendments”

Rep Fawson

Status: Awaiting Senate committee assignment

Description:  This bad bill about HIV transmission has been substituted to include:

1) “Abortion coverage restriction in health benefit plan and on insurance exchange”

2) “Abortion facilities required to provide printed materials and informational video –Department of Health to make printed materials and informational vide available.”

3) “Interstate compact students –Inclusion in attendance count – Funding for foreign exchange students –Annual report– Requirements for exchange student agencies.”

Action:  Contact your senator ASAP voicing your opposition against this multi topic bill.
